A brief introduction of China Liuzu Temple
As one of the most renowned Buddhist temples in China and the world, Liuzu Templeprovides age-old Chinese Chan wisdom that traverses the tunnel of time and spaceand enlightens many practitioners continuously as well as expansive, panoramicviews of the vibrant blues and greens that encapsulate the beauty of the ZhenshanDistrict of Sihui City, Guangdong province, China. Its previous name was “Liuzu An(Liuzu Buddhist Convent)” which was initially built in the ancient Tang dynasty witha history of more than 1,300 years.
As recorded in the Sixth Patriarch's Platform Sutra, Ven. Master Huineng, the SixthPatriarch of Chinese Chan Buddhism, came to Sihui City after receiving the Dharmalineage of Chan School from Ven. Master Hongren, the Fifth Patriarch of Chinese ChanBuddhism, and stayed here for 15 years. The latest reconstruction of Liuzu Temple tookplace in March,1997 after Most Ven. Shi Dayuan was enthroned as one of the youngestabbots in China. The temple construction was completed in 2001.
Since then, Liuzu Temple has been working with sustained effort to promoteBuddhism both at home and abroad, offering the general public with systematicalBuddhist courses as well as various meditation courses like Buddhist cultivationprograms, health care courses, Vipassana meditation and acupuncture-promotedmeditation etc. At present, there are over 50 temples in the Liuzu Temple group, with1,200 monks and 5 millions devotees at home and abroad.
Acupuncture-promoted meditation, one of the most popular meditation courses for thedevotees, integrates perfectly remarkable curative effect of acupuncture andmoxibustion with meditation. The practitioners of the acupuncture-promotedmeditation, who learn the basic theory of acupuncture and moxibustion, can sense themagical change of his body in his own experience. Through this course, thepractitioners who overcome the barrier of the physical body can realize the true natureof emptiness of the five aggregates as the Buddha taught.
We also cooperate with universities and colleges both home and abroad like QinghuaUniversity, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Wuhan University, Harvard University,University of British Columbia, Georg-August-University of G?ttingen, etc. onBuddhist study and inter-disciplinary research. Besides, we also provide scholarship foryoung people around the world to study Chinese language and Chinese Buddhism inChina.

Introduction of International Communication
The first Asian Buddhist Culture Festival was held in Angkor Wat Cambodia, 2011.
Three days of Medicine Buddha Cultural Festival was held in Lingquan Temple(affiliated Temple of Liuzu Temple), Wuhan, China in 2012. Visiting professors fromuniversity to make academic research report on the aspects of Buddhism, medicine andhealth.
International Chan Seminar held in Hong Kong 2013.
The second Asian Festival of Buddhist Culture held in Sri Lanka, 2013. (includingInternational Academic Seminar for Grotto Arts of Buddhist statue)A free elementary Chinese course in Wuhan University was offered to both monks andlay people in foreign countries. The course lasted for one year beginning from Oct.
2014. Later a postgraduate course was provided for foreign students who had abachelor’s degree between 2015-2018. These two courses received many positiveresponses and praises.
